The GM/CEO of the National Theatre, Prof. Sunday Ododo, was the Guest Lecturer and history maker at Lead City University, Ibadan, on Thursday, May 12, 2023. His lecture was titled “Re:engineering University Graduates for Relevance in Industry.” The lecture was delivered to students and staff of the university, particularly the Faculty of Arts with the strong presence of the students from the Department of Performing Arts and Films Studies. This lecture is the first to be hosted by the Faculty of Arts of the university.

In his lecture, the GM/CEO stressed the importance of universities in preparing students for the workforce. He said that universities need to do more to ensure that their graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge that employers are looking for.

Prof Ododo also called on universities to collaborate with industry to ensure that their curriculum is relevant to the needs of the job market. He said that this would help to ensure that graduates are able to find jobs after they leave school.

In addition, the GM/CEO presented a totem of the National Theatre to the university. He also donated some twenty titles of his works (books) to the Lead City University library. Prof Ododo was honoured with an Award of Excellence by the University. The Award was presented by the VC Prof. Kabiru Aderemi Adeyemo.

Prof Ododo’s visit to Lead City University was well-received by the staff and students. They were grateful for his insights and counseling.
