During the visit the National Theatre Management were treated to what Mrs Tola Akerele described as ‘something new’. The something new was a gripping, passionate, professional, entertaining and enthralling combination of ventriloquism, puppeteering, and solo theatre performance by the Olori of Eti-Oni; she is popularly called the ‘Puppet Queen’ because she is the first Queen to also double as theatre performer. The Olori wowed the gathering as her puppets engaged the audience in fascinating conversations even leading in a sing along.
During the visit, Oba Dokun Thompson said the royal couple who have performed across the world are interested in staging a Puppeteering Festival in Nigeria with the collaboration of the National Theatre.
