To behold the National Theatre Nigeria is to marvel at a piece of architectural cum cultural exchange between Bulgaria and Nigeria. This significant tie between these countries is why the GM/CEO of National Theatre Prof. Sunday Ododo was a prominent special guest as the Bulgaria consulate opened in Lagos today Friday 10th March 2023.

The Ambassador of Bulgaria to Nigeria H.E Mr. Yanko Yordanov who built on the rich history between Bulgaria and Nigeria through the National Theatre said the consulate is a place where the National theatre can reconnect with Bulgaria.

Speaking during the opening, Prof. Ododo described meeting H.E Mr. Yanko Yordanov as a reconnection between lost brothers. This is because a re-establishment of relations between the National Theatre and the Bulgarian consulate would afford the two institutions opportunities to grow together sustainably especially in Culture, entertainment, tourism, education and architecture. Prof Ododo informed the distinguished audience that the two volumes of National Theatre Monograph Series are already in Bulgaria National Library as a legacy of our shared cooperation.

H.E. Yadanov said once the National Theatre renovation is completed proper cultural exchange would commence.

Prominent people in attendance were the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Nigeria, President of United States Alumni, Rep of Vice Chancellor of Lagos – Professor Ismail Ibraheem – Director, office of international relations ,Hon justice Onigbanjo, Hon justice Gbajabiamila Senior advocate of Nigeria (with his daughters) DG of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry,Deputy President of Lagos Chambers of Commerce, Managing Director of Vitafoam.
