The General Manager/CEO, National Theatre of Nigeria, Iganmu Lagos, Professor Sunday Enessi Ododo, fsonta, FNAL, joined the Former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowan (rtd), and other well meaning Nigerians on the remarkable occasion of the 70th Anniversary celebration of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, held on the 20th May, 2021 at the NAF Conference Centre, Kado, Abuja.

Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC) which came into existence in 1951 in the Southern Cameroon before Nigeri’s Independent, is a parastatal in the current Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports. It is principally a human development outfit established for the training and moulding of Nigerian citizenry to become responsible and respectable citizens and leaders. The objectives of the centre amongst others, is to, ” Provide training for the development of citizenship and leadership for public benefits. Inculcate in the individual, qualities of self- discipline, self-reliance and selfless service; and develop national consciousness and international understanding”.

It is important to note that, the centre, regarded as ‘ Man-O-War, with the slogan ‘Waa – Wee’, has over the years produced quality leaders across all works of life and places emphasis on quality leadership right from grassroots to the Centre of governance. The Director General of CLTC, Mr Jonah B. Bawa highlighted in his welcome address that, the quest for peace as a panacea for development, does not connotes absence of conflicts but ensues the instruments put in place to manage its occurrence so that it does not degenerate crisis.

Leaders at the occasion also focused on the need to strengthen the indivisibility of our sovereignty as a nation; preaches peace, love irrespective of ethnic, religious and political divides. Also, mutual coexistence, cooperation with security forces to eliminate criminality rampaging our society and security awareness were critically emphasised. Above all, the need for conscious patriotism and nationalism by Nigerians.

The epoch making event recorded also in attendance, students of various schools within the FCT, who were deemed as Leaders of tomorrow. Some of them were given opportunities to lend their voices to etch out the Nigeria of their dreams.The event also witnessed book launch, cutting of Anniversary Cake and presentation of Awards.
