The National Theatre Easter Play in collaboration with Crown Troupe of Africa wrapped up today. In attendance was the GM/CEO of the National Theatre, Mrs Tola Akerele; she was accompanied by her lovely daughters.
The Play “Disl_oyal Judas” was an apt performance for the season. This Opera and comic adaptation of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is a reimagining of the biblical epic. Held inside the packed Marquee of the National Theatre, today’s appearance of the GM/CEO was the first of her new stewardship of the icon cultural edifice. Mrs Tola Akerele was elated and impressed by the performance. She gave a short address after the play in which she commended Segun Adefila for putting up yet another great show with his Crown Troupe of Africa.
Also in attendance was the popular Moyo Bamtefa who added glamour to the occasion with her presence. The Managements of National Theatre were also in attendance as well.
Today’s show marks the end of an era as popular actor and Fellow Theatre Art, Stephen Ogundele who was coordinator of today’s event bows out of the service of National Theatre in a few days. This play was his swan song and act as head of Production and Technical Theatre Service of the National Theatre.
