NATIONAL THEATRE CELEBRATES JIMI SOLANKE @80 Birthday

One of Nigeria’s most celebrated thespians, Jimi Solanke was celebrated today at the National Theatre. ‘ETITI: All Eyes on You’ written by this father of televised and radio storytelling in Nigeria, was read in the Marquee of the National Theatre with songs accompaniment as part of activities to mark the 80th birthday of the man described by the President of Nigeria as a national hero. The National Theatre event is the 5th day of an 8-day potpourri of events that started on July 1 and climaxed on his birthday on July 4 as activities marking his birthday runs across Nigeria and the world.
Fittingly, students and youths from Lagos Stste University of Technology played a part in the event as the audience and readers with Baba Agba, whose birth of another grand child was announced today from far away United Kingdom. Others at the event included Dr. Tunji Sotimirin of Creative Arts Department, University of Lagos; Ms Lara Akinsola Jahman Anikulapo, Makinde Adeniran, Titilayo Kaaku, Seyi Fasuyi, Biodun Abe, Steph Ogundele, all Fellows of National Association on Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners and other NANTAP members who came to felicitate and celebrate a true icon of the stage and airwaves in Nigeria
